If you are using the Warehouse module, you need to create bins. First you need to go to Company > Locations and create a bin numbering scheme, then you can generate bins based upon that numbering scheme or manually create a bin either through the Warehouse module or Company > Locations.

Create a Bin Numbering Scheme

To create a bin numbering scheme, navigate to Company (1) > Locations (2), click the Edit button (3) for the location you want to use the numbering scheme in, then navigate to the bottom of the Location Information tab.

At the bottom of the Location Information tab, you will see the Bin Numbering Scheme option (4):

  • Section Name (A): Input what you want this section type to be named.
  • Numbering Type (B): Select from the drop-down list which type of numbering you want this section type to use:
    • Select Alpha if you want the value for this section type to be a letter (will change automatically when using the Warehouse module).
    • Select Numeric if you want the value for this section type to be a number (will change automatically when using the Warehouse module).
    • Select Constant if you want the value for this section type to be constant/never change (will never change/always be the same in every bin number)
  • Separator (C): Input what you want the values of this section type to be separated by.
  • Delete (D): Click to delete this section type.
  • Add Section (E): Click to add another section type.

After adding as many sections as you need, click the Save button (5).

Generate/Create Bins

There are a couple of options to add bins for the Warehouse module, by having the system automatically generate bins based upon a range you enter and which section type in your bin numbering scheme you want, or you can manually create bins. You can use both of these options by navigating to the Bins screen either by clicking the three dot menu and selecting Manage Bins from Company > Locations (1), or by navigating to Warehouse > Bins (2):

Once you get to the Bins screen, either click the + New Bin button (A) to manually create bins, or click on the three dot menu button (B) and select the Generate Bins option (C):

Manually Create Bins

  • Bin Name (1): Input what you want the name of the bin to be.
  • Active (2): Mark this box if you want this bin to be for active items in the front end.
  • Backstock (3): Mark this box if you want this bin to be for items in the backstock area.
  • Color (4): Choose from the color picker tool you want to assign to this bin.
  • Comment (5): Input a comment that describes/explains the bin.
  • Sort Order (6): Input a number that will be used to determine in what order this bin will be sorted into.

Auto-Generate Bins

All the different sections you created for the bin numbering scheme in Company > Locations will be listed on this screen. Use the options listed below to have the system automatically generate bins based upon the ranges entered in (2) and (3).

  • Backstock (1): Mark this box if you want the generated bins to be for items in the backstock area.
  • Starting (2): Input the starting character for the range you want the bins to be generated from (what type of character you can enter depends on the numbering type selected for the section you are entering the range for).
  • Ending (3): Input the ending character for the range you want the bins to be generated from (what type of character you can enter depends on the numbering type selected for the section you are entering the range for).
  • Generate (4): Click this button to generate bins based upon the ranges entered.
